MYOFASCIAL RELEASE THERAPY

Myofascial Release Therapy (MFR) is a highly specialized stretching technique used to treat a variety of soft tissue problems. Knowing what fascia is will help you understand MFR and why it works. Fascia is the thin connective tissue that covers and holds everything in the body together (all the organs, every muscle, and every fiber within each muscle). When muscle fibers are injured, the fibers and the fascia which surround them become short and tight. This leads to over compensation of other muscle groups and causes pain and a variety of other symptoms. Myofascial Release treats these symptoms by releasing the uneven tightness in the injured fascia. Progress is measured by a decrease in the client’s pain and improvement in overall posture.
