Crossfiber Corrective Muscle Therapy®

Crossfiber Corrective Muscle Therapy® (CCMT) is the multi-faceted term used by the International Institute for Corrective Muscle Therapy, Inc. (IICMT) to refer to a category of bodywork, a training program, and a profession.

The category of bodywork referred to as “Crossfiber Corrective Muscle Therapy” encompasses the full repertoire of corrective bodywork techniques developed by Victoria Ross (founder of IICMT) since the mid1970s. Each technique provides its own unique facet to the overall principle of corrective handwork applied across the muscle fibers with the goal of evaluating and/or correcting muscular and soft-tissue damage throughout the body. The combined system of Crossfiber Corrective Muscle Therapy® allows for a full range of conditions and situations to be addressed. (For a history of this system of bodywork, go to www.iicmt.com/ross.html.)

The training program based on this concept is entitled the “Crossfiber Corrective Muscle Therapy® Program” and refers to the outline of courses provided through IICMT. The Level-1 course offers a total-body treatment format designed to address both localized and systemic conditions of the body. The Level-2 courses focus customized troubleshooting attention on localized problem areas of the body.  (For more on this program or the individual courses, go to www.iicmt.com/training.html.)

The profession of “Crossfiber Corrective Muscle Therapy” is the field of work carried out by graduates of the IICMT program practicing as Crossfiber Corrective Muscle Therapists as well as graduates of the previous institute, PICMT (Pfrimmer Institute for Corrective Muscle Therapy), practicing as Pfrimmer Deep Muscle Therapists. Those practicing in this field are dedicated to providing the most comprehensive, medical-type relief to clients suffering from the full spectrum of every-day body aches and pains; to limited-mobility conditions, injuries and post-surgery healing; to the most serious disorders — such as paralysis, stroke, MS, MD, etc. In that vein, IICMT is looking to combine efforts with other health care professionals:  chiropractors, neurologists, surgeons, physical therapists, athletic trainers, etc. (For a history of this profession, go to www.iicmt.com/institute.html.)
