Shiatsu and Crossfiber® Techniques

Description

Shiatsu and Crossfiber® Techniques: An integrative approach for common Neck and Shoulder problems, using Acupoints, Qi exercises, and Crossfiber Corrective Muscle Therapy® Techniques

Saturday, June 2, 2012 – 9am-5pm

6 hours CEU credits for Texas LMTs

Cost: $95.00

Instructors Pam Ferguson and Janine Ray will combine their respective specializations in Shiatsu and Medical Massage Therapy to address common neck and shoulder problems caused by trauma, whiplash, excessive computer use, poor posture, and stress. This workshop will be useful for L.Acs, ABTs, LMTs, DCs and  PTs.  A knowledge of the meridian system is useful but not essential.  Both instructors are approved Texas CE Providers in Massage Therapy. All techniques will be practiced in chairs and on tables. Participants are advised to wear loose comfortable clothing suitable for stretching and exercises (sweat suits or yoga pants and shirt, and socks), and to bring their own sets of sheets.

About the instructors:

Pamela Ellen Ferguson, LMT (TX), Dipl.ABT (NCCAOM), AOBTA(r) – CI , is AOMA’s Asian Bodywork Therapy Dean Emerita, and currently teaches CEU and advanced ABT classes in Europe each Spring and Fall, specializing in trauma, rehab,  cancer, and palliative care. Pam pioneered shiatsu workshops in hospitals  and nursing schools and has authored major textbooks including The Self Shiatsu Handbook and TAKE FIVE – the five elements guide to health and Harmony. Together with Debra Duncan Persinger PhD, she co-authored, co-edited the anthology SAND TO SKY – Conversations with Teachers of Asian Medicine.

Janine Ray, LMT, MTI, PDMT, and Lead CCMT Instructor, has owned North Austin Massage Therapy, a medical massage clinic in Northwest Austin specializing in Pain Relief and Injury Rehabilitation since 1984.  She is a Texas Massage Therapy Instructor, an approved CE provider and an independent contractor for the International Institute for Corrective Muscle Therapy ®, Inc. (formerly known as the Pfrimmer Institute for Corrective Muscle Therapy). Crossfiber Therapy® is based on the pioneering work of Thérèse Pfrimmer, a Canadian physiotherapist who reversed her own paralysis through Crossfiber® techniques.  Crossfiber Corrective Muscle Therapy® training has helped PTs, LMTs and DCs integrate these specialized techniques to correct muscle damage post trauma and for a range of conditions including Parkinson’s, MS, and Cerebral Palsy.
